What is Marne Barracks?
Marne Barracks was the Royal Air Force Airfield from the Year 1918-1994. It was formerly known as RAF Catterick and was located at Catterick, North Yorkshire, England. The Catterick Airfield was opened in year 1914 as a small airfield for Royal Flying Corps for training pilots. The Marne Barracks currently houses the 5th Regiment Royal Artillery and the 1st Battalion Mercian Regiment. Large number of buildings exists on the Marne Barracks including hairdresser, Londis shop, state-of-the-art gymnasium and PRI shop. The Marne Barracks was also used as one of the spot in the film The Way to the Stars in year 1945.
