What is Zain Iraq?
Zain Iraq is the Iraq division of a multinational telecommunication group popularly known as Zain Group. The company mainly operates in in the Middle East and North Africa covering countries such as Bahrain, Sudan, South Sudan, Lebanon, Morocco, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait. The group offers a vast range of telecommunication services such as Mobile telephony, fixed line services, Internet services and broadband Internet services etc. Zain Iraq is the major mobile phone operator in Iraq.
Zain Iraq was established in the year 2003 as 'Iraqna' after the fall of Saddam Hussein rule in Iraq. It was operated by Orascom Telecom Holding but in the year 2007 it was taken over Zain group at a Sky high cost of US$1.2 billion. Zain group was previously known as Mobile Telecommunications Company(MTC) that was incorporated in the year 1983. The group serves over 46.1 million subscribers worldwide. It is one of the fastest moving telecom companies in the world. Today, it has become a largest mobile operator in Iraq and provides its telecommunications services to nearly 13 million Iraqi customers. AsiaCell, Korek, Moutiny are the major competitors of Zain Iraq which are also offering telecommunication services to the people of Iraq.
