What is Progressive Field?
Progressive Field is a baseball field in the United States of America. It is located in downtown Cleveland in the state of Ohio. The field hosts a wide array of events throughout the year. Progressive Field is owned and operated by Cuyahoga County and Gateway Sports and Entertainment Complex respectively. People also call the field The Pro, The Prog or The Jake. It is the home field for a professional baseball team, the Cleveland Indians. The 2008 fan opinion poll by an American sports media Sports Illustrated, reveals that it is the best ballpark in Major League Baseball. The field was inaugurated on April 2, 1994. The original name of the field was Jacobs Field and was named after the chairman of The Richard E. Jacobs Group, Richard E. "Dick" Jacobs. In the year 2008, an American car insurance services company, The Progressive Corporation purchased the naming rights and since then, it is called the Progressive Field. The company signed agreement to pay $57.6 million for the period of 16 years. It was planned to rename the field as Progressive Park, but as the name was already used, so it was named Progressive Field.
