What is Jyotirlingas?
A Jyotirlinga is a devotional object which is a sign of God Shiva. In India, twelve traditional Jyotirlinga shrines, which represent that God Shiva first demonstrated himself as a Jyotirlinga on the night of the Aridra Nakshatra. Jyotirlinga is made up of two separate words Jyotir and Linga, Jyotir means 'radiance' and Linga is a 'sigh of God Shiva' thus the combined meaning of Jyotirlinga is "The Radiant sign of The Almighty". It is believe that after reaches a higher level of religious achievement, people can see these lingas as columns of flame striking through the earth.
