Joan Bauer is a US based writer specializing in writing young adult literature. She was born on July 12, 1951 in River Forest, Illinois. Joan Bauer has also worked for the Chicago Tribune, McGraw-Hill books and WLS Radio before taking up writing as a profession. She has written 10 plus novels including Squashed, Thwonk, Sticks, Rules of the Road, Backwater, Hope Was Here, Close to Famous and Almost Home. Joan Bauer is a New York Times bestselling author and has also won many awards like the Newbery Honor Medal, the American Library Association's Schneider Family Book Award and a couple of Christopher Awards.
