Besides Iowa, it also served the communities in Three other states including Missouri and Minnesota. The Company is headquartered in Newton, Iowa and served the community through 800 employees.
Iowa Telecom History
Iowa Telecom had commenced operation in 1999 and had come into existence as a joint venture between Iowa Network Services and
Ing Barings. The Company had purchased the assets of GTE, which operated behalf of
Bell Atlantic in the state. Till the end of financial year of 2008, the company had 257,700 access lines. It serves more than 430 communities in the state. Iowa Telecom had acquired many small companies since its inception like PC Partner Communications, Lakedale Communications, Connections-ETC and Zumatel Communications. Many of these companies were located in Minnesota. Iowa Telecom was sold to
Windstream Communication in 2009.
