Dulles Airport is an international airport originally known as Washington Dulles International Airport. It is a public airport that was opened back in the year 1962 inaugurated by President of United States John F. Kennedy at that time and the main terminal at the airport was designed by one of the leading Finnish architect Eero Saarinen. First Flight landed at the airport was Eastern Air Lines Super Electra turboprop that arrived from Newark International Airport in New Jersey. The airport spread over a large area of 11,830 acres and is owned and operated by Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority.
Dulles Airport serves more than 125 destinations throughout the world such as Netherlands, Germany, France, Japan, Belgium, Qatar, United kingdom, United States and United Arab Emirates. It has five runways namely- 1L/19R, 12/30, 1C/19C, 1R/19L and 12R/30L. The airport is served by more than thirty six passenger airlines, some of them are American Airlines, British Airways, Copa Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Ethiopian Airlines, Porter Airlines, Southwest Airlines, Turkish Airlines and United Airlines. Dulles Airport handles 21,947,065 number of visitors in the year 2013. It is one of the largest airports in the United States. The airline offers Cargo services through Three airlines such as Fedex Feeder, Fedex Express and UPS Airlines.
