What is Go Train?
Go Train is a transportation service, provided by Train in Southern Ontario, Canada. The service operates by Go Transit Agency, a public transport agency. Go Transit stands for Government of Ontario Transit and is operated and monitored by government of Ontario. It is a division of Metrolinx. Go Transit has its headquarters in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
Go Train History
The agency began its operations on 23rd May 1967 with a rail line and started Go Train services from Oakville to Hamilton. With the development, Go Transit introduced Kitchener Line in the year 1974 and Richmond line in 1978. The agency launched rail cars with the partnership of
Bombardier Transportation. In 1970, it engages in the service of
Go Bus along with Go Train. It operates more than 63 Go Trains and approximately 500 Go Buses throughout the nation.
Go Train Services
The agency serves the community of Greater Toronto, Hamilton Area and across the Golden Horeshoe. It carries more than 65 million passengers per year by Go Train and Go Bus. Go Transit provides pass facility to people of all ages.
Digital Services
The agency launched various digital services such as Go Mobile, Go Tracker and Go Alerts. Go
Mobile is a
Mobile application of Go Transit which runs on Blackberry, Android,
Iphone and Windows platform that allow viewing Go Train and Bus schedules and services. Go Alerts is a SMS service that provides service updates
VIA text or email. Go Tracker is a web application, provides real-time status of Go Train.
